Primary Health Centers under District Medical & Health Officer
District Medical & Health
Officer of Civil Surgeon cadre is the Head of the District Medical & Health Office. He
is over in-charge for all the national programmes i.e. Malaria, Leprosy, Tuberculosis,
Blindness Control Programme & Family Welfare programmes includes sterlisattion and
immunization programme. He is supported by Addl. District Medical & Health Officer,
District TB Control Officer, District Leprosy Control Officer, District Malaria Officer
and District Immunisation Officer at District Level and Deputy District Medical &
Health officers at Miryalguda, Bhongir & Suryapet.
There are 67 Primary Health Centres (PHC)
established at 59 mandals, 4 Post Partum (PP) units at Nalgonda, Suryapet, Ramannapet
& Miryalguda and 2 General Hospitals at Nadigudem and Munagala. There are 115 Civil
Asst. Surgeons working at above hospitals.
Every PHC is Medical Officer who
will lookafter the following activities
- Out Patient Clinics for treatment of minor ailments
- Maternal & Child Health Care Services including
conduction of deliveries and Immunisation Programmes
- Conducting Sterlisations both tubectomy and
vasectomy operations
- Monitoring all national Programmes and control of
communicable diseases like gastroenteritis, JE, Malaria, Filaria etc. in all habitations
of the mandal.
- Conducting Regular Health Camps at various villages
in the Mandal
- Health Checkups to School going children and Hostel
students
- Lab facilities to do blood, urine and sputum
examinations.
- Serious and complicated cases are referred to Area
Hospitals and District Head Quarters Hospital for further treatment.
Every PHC is provided with 6 beds
to treat emergencies and one Operation theatre to conduct Family Planning Operations.
The Medicines & Services are provided at free
of cost to the patients at all PHCs.
In addition to the Medical &
Health Services provided by Government through various Government Institutions, Private
Nursing Homes run by qualified medical practitioners are providing health care services in
different parts of the district. |
